Nziyo dzeShiri Mambakwedza

Dawn Chorus of the Woodland Birds
Nhetembo dzeZvisikwa (Nature Verse)
Ndima 1
Zuva richangotanga kubuda kumabvazuva,
Just as the golden sun begins to rise in the east,
Jongwe rinokukuridza kumutsa musha wose!
The rooster crows proudly to awaken the whole village!
Njiva inoimba zvinyoro-nyoro mumuti wemuonde,
The gentle dove coos softly in the wild fig tree,
Hanga dzichitamba mumafuro aneime.
While spotted guineafowl dance through the dewy grass.
Ndima 2
Dendera anoridza ngoma yake yekudana mvura,
The ground hornbill beats his deep bass drum calling the rain,
Hungwe achibhururuka pamusoro pemvura yeZambezi.
And the fish eagle soars high above the Zambezi waters.
Shiri dzesango dzinoshongedza denga redu,
The birds of the woodland adorn our wide blue sky,
Dzichitidzidzisa kuimba nekufara zuva nezuva!
Teaching us to sing and welcome every day with joy!
